About dentures
Dentures are removable and made from plastic or metal frameworks that carry single or multiple false teeth, custom-made to fit the size and shape of your mouth, giving you a comfortable and natural-looking smile.
Why choose dentures?
If spaces from missing teeth are left untreated they may affect chewing or speaking, as additional pressure is put on teeth either side of the gap, and your bite can become misaligned. The missing teeth and associated bone loss can also cause the skin on your face to sag and look older, and you could end up losing further teeth.
Types of dentures
Complete dentures replace a full arch if you have lost all of your top and/or bottom teeth. An acrylic plastic base, coloured to match your gums, with a full set of false teeth usually made from resin, fits over your gums. Our dentist will take precise measurements of your mouth, which will be given to a dental technician who will custom make your dentures so that they fit snugly over your gums and jawbone.
Partial dentures replace one or more teeth and are used if you still have some of your own teeth. The replacement teeth are specially created to fit the gaps you have, and to blend in with your remaining teeth These are either plastic or fixed to a metal framework that fits around your natural teeth to hold them in place.

How do I look after my dentures?
Dentures must be looked after as if they were your natural teeth. Plaque, tartar and stains can develop on dentures in much the same way as it can on natural teeth. When you have your new dentures, your dentists will provide you with aftercare advice such as: what to do for the first 24 hours, tips on how to eat and talk with them, when to take them out and how to clean them.
